MayWith summer blowing through the trees my thoughts turn to the outdoors, camping, BBQ’s, hiking, and rock hunting.
I am amateur rock hunter, especially out here in Alberta, where I am unfamiliar with the territory. In New Brunswick it seemed easy since I lived so close to old volcanic activity. In Edmonton it’s a different story I haven’t learned much about the geological history. So I figured I would give myself a refresher on the basics and have some fun with it.
To learn more I visited the Royal Alberta Museum and was blown away by their rocks and mineral collection. The photos above were taken from classification section. The 3 categories rocks can be classified as, are Igneous (molten rock that has cooled and harden), Metamorphic (are rocks that have altered by heat or pressure), and Sedimentary (When minerals/rocks have been broken down, moved, and are compacted together).
When trying to identify rocks and their story it is easiest to first identify which group they are in.

Another fun color palette I did up. This photo was taken in Drumheller, AB. We took a hike in one of the canyons there between the fossils and beautiful desert flowers I grab many photos.

It’s friday and I think it’s time for some fun links!
But first “Do you know Sam?” If you know a Sam from Vancouver check out this article and see if your Sam and this Sam, are one and the same!
The above photo was found from a link posted on Dark Roasted Blend. It’s one of many great photos The Atlantic has complied from all over New York from 1910 to the 1920’s.
You know you love Salted Caramel and you know you want the recipe so you can make your own SALTED CARAMEL SAUCE (hypnotizing background music commence) Thank you Mrs Happy Homemaker!

Last weekend was the Calgary Expo! And I got to be there :)
It was my first expo and to celebrate I made some glittery BAM and POW stickers to give out (Adam West was there!). I figured it would be easiest to leave some on tables here and there. I thought people would just pick them up at random but I forgot how nice Canadians are! They ended up sitting on the table for hours and no one took any of them, someone even moved them out of the way (thinking someone had left it behind and was coming back for it). Once I put a free sign beside it though, the disappeared in a couple of minutes!
Thank you to those who took my stickers home with you :) I hope you enjoy them.

P.S. The expo was AMAZING! I got to see Wil Wheaton, Sir Patrick Stewart, Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and LeVar Burton from Reading Rainbow!

Color Palettes are inspiring. They get my mind thinking about where do my favorite colors come from? At the paint store why did I leave with that shade of Orange? Will my clothes today be brought to you in part by the color purple? And if so which shade of purple?
Because a few of my favorite things are colors (you know the kind you can really get your fingers into when finger painting) I decided to create some color palettes I can use to inspire me during those rainy days. Enjoy there are more to come.
